Three Global Companies That Use ERP Systems For Their Business

Hey guys,

This week we will be discussing three companies who use enterprise applications to support their business strategy and model.

Google

First off let’s discuss Google. As described on the About Google section of their website the company’s business revolves around advertising. The company’s primary source of income is earned by selling advertisement space to businesses. The company’s strategy can be descried as having intensive growth and innovation. As Panmore.com states their primary strategy can be described as market penetration alongside their secondary strategy which includes product development.

Google has collaborated with Systems Applications and Products (SAP) for their Google Workspace application. It allows users to edit and comment on documents directly. (SAP) allows them to do this without the confusion, of having to submit the files in and out to adjust them. It promotes efficiency as the user no longer needs to collect files and download them to be eventually uploaded onto the ERP. This is a huge benefit of the SAP system.

Starbucks

Starbucks uses Oracle ERP which is a cloud-based software solution. It allows their business to efficiently operate the day to day running of the business along with office processes.

Starbucks business strategy is centred around providing a premium customer experience, producing high quality coffee along with having a welcoming atmosphere. Starbucks operates a franchise business model. They company acts as the franchiser allowing other individuals to operate under their brand as a franchisee. Starbucks are then paid a franchise fee for this.

Using an ERP system like Oracle is important for Starbucks. With their wide span of coffee shops, it is essential that they all operate under a consistent ERP system. Without a system like this it would limit their capacity to operate their day to day running of the business effectively. As outlined on  Oracle.com  these activities range from accounting, procurement, project management, supply chain operations along with risk management and compliance.

Coca Cola

Coca Cola is a leading manufacturer and distributer in the soft drink industry.

Their business model is concentrated on selling their products to consumers, sponsorship and investing in businesses. Their model is centred around their strong and recognisable brand. As reported on  Marketingweek.com their strategy revolves around deepening relationships with consumers which can includes the use of digital experiences. This gives them a greater understanding of consumers and their market segment.

An ERP system used by the company is Microsoft Dynamic 365. The focus of this system for Coca Cola is to deliver digital experiences to enhance and modernise the way the company engages with employees and customers. New.microsoft.com outlines how the system allows call centre managers to monitor the performance of employee’s satisfaction score and will give feedback on what is driving those scores. This enhances decision making capabilities and productivity for Coca Cola.

And there we have it everyone, three global companies who use important ERP systems in their day-to-day operations!
